Memphis Soul Night
Dinner service starts @ 4:30pm
Performance @ 8pm
Memphis in the 60s and 70s certainly earned the moniker “Soulsville” USA. Besides being the recording home of Otis Redding, the Staple Singers and Dusty Springfield, and the hometown to Al Green and Isaac Hayes, the city was also home to the legendary Stax, Hi, and Goldwax record labels.
Soul Spectacular will recreate the Memphis sound with a tribute show featuring a group of Chicago’s best Soul musicians and R&B singers, including Sam Trump (Sidewalk Chalk, Chibrations, Soul Vortex), Chris Neal (Lowdown Brass Band), Elisa Latrice, Oscar “Mr. 43rd St.” Wilson and more. All backed by Julie Nichols & the Spectaculars, a stone cold band complete with costumes, horns, and back-up singers. If you are looking for a funky night out on the town, we guarantee this will be hotter than Beale Street in summer of ’70.
Soul Spectacular: Master musical director Julie Nichols (Second City) together with guitarist/director Billy Bungeroth (JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound), are resurrecting the art of the Revue: concerts that have the feel and direction of a theatrical experience. Put on your dancing shoes, this is one show you don’t want to miss!
